Langham Place Mall

Since my hotel is usually in Mong Kok, Langham Place Mall almost always features in my itinerary. The entrance of the mall is graced by this "Happy Man" sculpture that weighs a whopping 2,700 kg.

Posh, contemporary and futuristic, the mall (and the adjoining Langham Place Hotel) look almost out of place in Mong Kok, an area long known for its vices (including a red light district). In fact, I have personally witnessed a gang fight on the streets right opposite the mall, much like a scene straight out of a TVB crime series! For a moment, I did wonder if someone would shout "Cut!", but it soon became clear that it was not filming in progress. On that note, the mall was actually the filming location for at least two TVB dramas - Under The Canopy Of Love and OL Supreme. :)

Apart from dim sum, another must-try dish in Hong Kong is surely wanton noodles. Chee Kei on Level 4 serves up a decent bowl.

And to nurse that sweet tooth, there's always Honeymoon Dessert on Level 4.

My favourites are the mango pomelo and sago (杨枝甘露) and durian pancake pictured below.

Yes, there is some durian filling inside! These days, durian has found its away into the hearts of many Hong Kongers. :)
