To get to the island, take a ferry from Central Piers. The piers are nearer to Hong Kong MTR station. If you alight at Central MTR station, walk through to Hong Kong station, then through the ifc mall.
Each of the nine piers is allocated to different ferry services to different destinations. The ferry to Lamma Island is at Pier 4.
The two villages on Lamma Island most visited by tourists is Yung Shue Wan in the north, and Sok Kwu Wan in the east. Some people take a ferry to Yung Shue Wan, then take a one-hour walk to Sok Kwu Wan, taking the chance to explore the village's charm. I've not personally tried the walk, as I usually head straight to Sok Kwu Wan for the seafood restaurants.
Whichever option you prefer, just take the correct ferry service.

After a half-hour ferry ride, you will reach Sok Kwu Wan.
Arrive before sunset if you want to explore this quaint and laid-back village.
Whenever I watch TVB dramas that feature Lamma Island, there's bound to be an old lady somewhere selling traditional food like cha guo (茶果 or tea cakes). To my surprise, these old ladies exist! Here's one.
And this is a cha guo. Can't tell what's inside, but it tastes rather like Singapore's ang ku kueh.
And now for the highlight of my trips to Lamma Island - the seafood, of course.
The fried squid with pepper and salt are very, very good. An absolute must-have!
Steamed garlic prawns, yummy too.
The fish was fresh.
Crayfish, which requires some skills to cut open!
And the baked lobsters with cheese of course never disappoints.
Would love to try Lei Yue Mun or Sai Kung next to see how the quality compares!
